Principal
Micah Copeland
Micah Copeland became the principal of NC Cyber Academy Elementary School in July of 2019. He is passionate about ensuring that all children have high-quality early learning experiences. He believes that by empowering children to love reading, problem-solving, and learning, they will succeed in school and continue to love learning, find solutions, and rise to any challenge they face.
Before joining NCCA, he was the Principal of James E. Shepard International Baccalaureate Magnet Middle School, Hope Valley Elementary, and Club Boulevard Humanities Magnet School in Durham Public Schools. During his tenure, he has received awards and recognition from the Communities in Schools of Durham, Magnet Schools of America and for promoting Advanced Academic Opportunities for students. He started his career in public education as a fourth and fifth-grade teacher who was awarded several grants to utilize technology to increase student achievement.
Micah Copeland earned his Masters of School Administration and Bachelor of Arts in American Studies and Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mr. Copeland attended UNC on a swimming scholarship, where he earned multiple Academic All-American honors and numerous Atlantic Coast Conference Championships.
He has lived in several states, but once he moved to the Triangle region of North Carolina, he has never left. He currently lives in Hillsborough with his lovely wife Lisa and two sons, Aiden and Caleb. Active in Scouts BSA, serving as an Assistant Scoutmaster supporting new scouts, he also spends time hiking, fishing, camping, and loves reading, especially young adult fiction. Assistant Principal
Whitney Pratt
Ms. Pratt joined NC Cyber Academy in July 2021 and is extremely excited about supporting teachers and students. Assistant Principal Pratt holds a Master of Arts in School Counseling from Norfolk State University and completed an add-on School Leadership program in 2016, from Gardner-Webb University.
Assistant Principal Pratt has extensive experience with student service/support, MTSS, and social-emotional learning and is most passionate about family/community partnership and engagement.
Ms. Pratt enjoys traveling and experiencing new cultures, food, and places, along with spending time with family.
